Extensions:
Rear Extension, West End
Our own home was a very personal
project… an opportunity to try some ideas I’d think twice about
unleashing on an unsuspecting client. The strong form contrasts with
the Victorian house but merges into the terrace by the use of a
parabaloid roof. The wall stops below this and is stabilized by a
buttress with the strip between wall and roof fully glazed, washing
light across the curved ceiling. The end of the kitchen opens up to the
garden so on warm days we can shelter from the rain while enjoying the
fragrances of the flowers. The shed is of similar construction with
lavender beds on the copper roof.
